SOGP Pre-Conference Workshop on “Post Care Abortion & MVA

Department of Medical Education AFDMC collaborated with Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department to arrange SOGP Pre Conference Workshop “Post Care Abortion & MVA” in Aziz Fatimah Medical & Dental College, Faisalabad. Total of 34 reputed consultants in Obstetrics/ Gynaecology attended from variousclinics of Faisalabad, Pakistan.The event was based by honourable Principal Maj. Gen (R ) Prof. Dr. Hamid Shafiq HI (M) and Dr.Samina Khalid Regional Director SOGP Faisalabad Chapter.

The program started with recitation of Holy Quran followed by opening speech by the principal who emphasized the needs for such educational activities on regular basis in order to update the consultants in the medical knowledge and skills. This was followed by lectures starting from lecture on Management Of Miscarriagesby Dr.NaziaMusarrat HOD Gynaecology department. She overviewed the causes of miscarriages and talked about the management of different kind of miscarriages. DrSamina Khalid (Regional Director, SOGP Faisalabad Chapter) gave a very important lecture on Post Abortion Care and with speciallyenlightening facts and rules from the Shariah. After Dr.SaminaKhalids’ lecture Dr.RahilaFarhat talked about Manual Vacuum Aspiration including its procedures and its tools involved.

There was a break of refreshments in between and later on hands on session on MVA was conducted by Dr.Rahila and Post Abortion Care counselling was conducted by Dr.Shazia Anwar. The day ended with the closing remarks of Dr.Samina Khalid and distribution of certificates and souvenirs to the guest speakers, organizers and the participants of the event.

Worth mentioning efforts of IFMSA students who did an outstanding tasks in conducting in such workshop along with Department of Medical Education. It is hoped that further activities had been conducted in future at AFMDC.
